For more than seven years the Planetwork community has actively pursued one question:
What if the vast group of people working for a better world could see itself as one interwoven community; what if we could
hold up a mirror and see how many of us are working for a better world, who is working on what, where are we making
progress, and how could we all operate more effectively together?
It is time for us to help bring that vision to life. With networked computer technology reaching deeper into society, we
want to ensure that the incredible potential the web now provides is woven into our familiar inter-social networks.
We call our initiative "1Society" and we see it as a part of a movement towards improving the ways we all work, play and
live on our planet.
Our initiative is a decentralized effort rooted in the form of digital identity and open source sensibilities. It focuses
on ensuring the digital society around us is interoperable, powerful,
safe and connected.
The 1Society initiative weaves together threads of projects that many of us have worked on — technically, socially,
organizationally and practically — for many years. These projects have been driven by priorities rooted in our local
communities, and geared towards the greater goal of bringing those communities together.
1Society offers three intertwined solutions:
One. A live, mobile, personal profile that safely interoperates across websites.
Two. A launch pad to organize information about you, your family and your community(ies).
Three. Online community tools for you to establish a space that can network with other communities in ways
similar to how people relate in the real world.
Working in concert or alone, 1Society solutions connect people worldwide with the issues they care about close to home. Just
as the Industrial Revolution vitalized cities and birthed the factories and mass production systems used today, so 1Society
will bring to life globally-distributed living with on-demand ideas, goods and services.
Currently we are talking with people about the vision, building out our existing
team, raising capital, and creating the
technical specifications upon which 1Society will be based.
